What is Right Employment?
Right Employment is a supported employment service for people who have a learning disability, or who are on the autistic spectrum, and who live in Oxfordshire.
We provide an individualized service to anyone with a learning disability over the age of 16 and support them through the whole process of finding employment, from initial information and advice to sustained employment.
We support people to find full time or part time work. Some people may only wish to work for a few hours a week, particularly if they have not worked before.
One of the main features of our service is the individual support we provide to people within the workplace. Our staff work alongside people with learning disabilities within their place of work to help them learn their job, gradually withdrawing support as the person becomes more competent.
History
Right Employment was established in 1999 as part of Oxfordshire Learning Disability NHS Trust, with funding from Oxfordshire County Council Social Services Department.
In 2001 a charitable company, Right Employment Ltd, was set up and the service was transferred from the NHS Trust to the charity.
Since 1999, Right Employment has found over 420 paid jobs for people with learning disabilities in Oxfordshire.
